Electrical Design Engineer

My client is hiring for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for a fully remote contract role. This is a 6-month opportunity that falls outside IR35 and requires immediate or short-notice availability.

The successful candidate must have extensive experience using Amtech and AutoCAD, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality electrical designs for industrial or commercial projects. Holding a valid EX12 qualification is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and produce detailed electrical designs, schematics, and layout drawings using AutoCAD.

• Carry out electrical calculations, load assessments, and cable sizing using Amtech.

• Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, BS 7671 (17th/18th Edition), and ATEX regulations.

• Interpret technical specifications, P&IDs, and client requirements into robust electrical designs.

• Collaborate remotely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure design integrity.

• Prepare and update design documentation, including single-line diagrams, schedules, and technical reports.

• Review and verify electrical designs for hazardous area classification in line with EX12 requirements.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer working on industrial or commercial projects.

• Strong proficiency in Amtech (Trimble ProDesign) and AutoCAD Electrical.

• Valid EX12 qualification (Electrical Design for Hazardous Areas).

• Solid understanding of ATEX/DSEAR regulations and hazardous area design principles.

• Ability to work independently in a fully remote capacity and meet project deadlines.

• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
