Chester 100K - 120K Permanent

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a newly created Head of Market Operations role on behalf of an innovative engineering and technology business undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation.
Following a significant organisational restructure, this position will play a pivotal role in leading operational delivery across the UK & Ireland, bringing together field engineering, project delivery, planning and customer success into one high-performing function.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, delivering exceptional customer outcomes and driving continuous improvement across a business that combines cutting-edge hardware and software solutions for the utilities and power sectors.
This is a highly visible leadership position with genuine influence over the future direction of the organisation and offers excellent long-term progression opportunities.

The Role

As Head of Market Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a team of approximately 30-35 employees across the UK & Ireland.
Leading a management team that includes Field Service Managers, Planning and Customer Success, you will ensure projects and field activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards whilst maintaining strong commercial performance.
The role is predominantly focused on field operations supporting electrical infrastructure projects across LV, MV and HV applications, whilst also supporting the continued growth of the company's software delivery offering.
Approximately 80% of the role centres around hardware and field operations, with 20% supporting software deployment and customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational delivery across the UK & Ireland.
  • Manage Field Service, Project Delivery, Planning and Customer Success functions.
  • Own regional operational performance including delivery, utilisation, efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Take full accountability for regional P&L, budgets and operational forecasting.
  • Develop resource and capacity plans to ensure effective delivery across multiple workstreams.
  • Lead Health & Safety performance across all operational activities.
  • Drive operational excellence through KPI management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for operational, customer and delivery issues.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with global teams across Product, Engineering, Consulting, Manufacturing and Software.
  • Coach, mentor and develop a growing leadership team.
  • Support the ongoing transformation of the organisation and embed new ways of working.

About You

We're looking for an experienced operational leader who enjoys developing people just as much as delivering results.
You'll be comfortable operating strategically whilst remaining close enough to the operation to make informed decisions and remove obstacles for your teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading engineering, field service or operational delivery teams.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor and develop managers.
  • Experience managing large operational teams within engineering or technical environments.
  • Commercial awareness including P&L responsibility, budgeting and operational performance.
  • Experience managing KPIs, forecasting, resource planning and capacity management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial and executive teams.
  • Strong customer focus with experience managing escalations and customer relationships.
  • Demonstrable commitment to Health & Safety, quality and operational compliance.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Experience driving operational improvement and organisational change.

Desirable Experience

  • Utilities, electrical infrastructure or power distribution experience.
  • Exposure to HV, MV or LV engineering environments.
  • Understanding of software deployment or SaaS delivery alongside hardware operations.
  • Experience working within global or matrix organisations.
  • Background in operational transformation programmes.

Why Join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business entering its next phase of growth.
You'll inherit a talented and committed team, whilst having the autonomy to shape operations, influence strategy and build capability across the region.
If you're an ambitious operational leader looking for a role with genuine impact, visibility and progression potential, this opportunity offers exactly that.
