The Role

An established engineering and automation business is looking for an experienced Electrical / EC&I Engineer to support the delivery of control system and automation projects.

Working closely with electrical and software engineering teams, you will provide the link between control software and electrical hardware, supporting projects from initial design and specification through to testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Review P&IDs, URS documents, instrument lists and electrical requirements

• Carry out site surveys and develop electrical/control integration solutions

• Specify control panels, electrical equipment and automation hardware

• Work with PLCs, HMIs, variable speed drives and associated control equipment

• Produce I/O schedules, cable/termination schedules and hardware design/test specifications

• Review and approve electrical schematics

• Support control panel FAT/PDI activities

• Specify and configure VSDs, motor starters and associated equipment

• Provide technical coordination and supervision of subcontractors

• Support safe on-site testing and commissioning

• Work across both modern and legacy control system platforms

About You

• HNC or above in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

• 5+ years' experience within controls, automation, EC&I or electrical engineering

• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VSDs and control panels

• Knowledge of DOL, Star/Delta and Soft Start motor starters

• Working knowledge of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations

• Knowledge of BS EN 60204-1 Machinery Safety

• Experience within sectors such as Food & Beverage, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Process, Water or Materials Handling

• Functional Safety knowledge (ISO EN 13849-1 / IEC 62061) advantageous

• SSSTS advantageous but not essential
