Due to continued growth and expansion, we're looking for an Embedded Test Team Lead to join our forward-thinking Development Team. If you're experienced in leading test teams and passionate about testing integrated hardware and software systems, we'd love to hear from you.
As the Embedded Test Team Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our embedded products. You'll lead a skilled test team and oversee the full testing lifecycle across hardware, firmware, and software platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop the testing team, including recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
Plan, coordinate, and execute test campaigns, defining scope, effort, and reporting outcomes.
Drive the adoption and development of automated testing across all products.
Design and execute detailed test cases based on specifications, design documentation, and risk assessments.
Build and maintain test rigs to support automated testing of hardware, software, and firmware.
Conduct manual, functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
Produce comprehensive test reports summarising test activities, results, and defect analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between testing and project requirements.
Identify, log, and manage defects using established bug tracking tools.
Support the professional growth of junior engineers through mentoring and coaching.
Essential:
Proven experience leading and managing test teams.
Strong background in testing combined hardware and software platforms in an embedded environment.
Expertise in automated testing methodologies and frameworks for embedded systems.
Confident working in both Windows and Linux environments (command line proficiency essential).
Skilled in building and maintaining hardware test platforms for automation.
Experience translating project requirements into comprehensive test plans and strategies.
Familiarity with version control, bug tracking, and document management tools.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain test strategies and results.
Desirable:
Experience testing equipment or systems within the electricity or utilities industry.
