BMS Design Engineer

I'm currently recruiting for a forward-thinking business at the forefront of BMS and energy management technology. They're looking for a skilled BMS Design Engineer to join their growing team and take ownership of system design and engineering delivery for medium to large-scale projects.

This role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical building systems, along with the ability to work independently and manage complex technical requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating client specifications into complete design and scope packages - including panel design, hardware and software configurations, field device selection, graphics, and installation/commissioning documentation.

Key engineering capabilities we're looking for:

• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and plant

• End-to-end BMS system design - from concept to handover

• Ability to author BMS control strategy documents

• Experience developing BMS hardware/software architecture and applying best practices

• Familiarity with leading systems such as Trend, Siemens, Honeywell (preferred)

Ideal background and skills:

• Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline

• Solid experience in building systems automation and control

• Comfortable with site surveys and working around live plant

• Understanding of integrated building systems (BMS, fire safety, electrical, mechanical)

• Skilled in control system design, software config, panel design, and graphics generation

• Knowledge of PLCs, stand-alone controllers, and energy monitoring systems

• Experience managing BMS work across multiple contractors and suppliers

• Problem-solver with initiative, teamwork, and independence

• Confident communicator able to build strong client/supplier relationships

• Leadership experience or pre-sales survey capability would be an advantage

• Able to work across office and live site environments, with security screening required
